KPop sensation Seventeen drop brand new special album ‘; (Semicolon), four months after their 7th mini album Heng:garae.

The group, formed by Pledis Entertainment, consists of 13 members including S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino.

‘; (Semicolon)’, which was released in October, features six tracks that explore relationships and the feelings that remain when the world is paused. The album reflects what is going on at the moment with the world being locked down due to Covid-19. The semicolon signifies a pause and maybe to reflect on oneself and to live in the moment.

The track off the special album is ‘Home;Run’. The track as a large Jazz influence with a brass band and the helm of the backing track. The song talks about not giving up and leaving life in the moment. It is a very catchy tune and it will get you dancing along to it and singing along to the chorus especially. To top it all off, the music video for the lead track is an entertaining watch for viewers. The video features a great storyline and even amazing choreography.

The next song on the album is ‘Do Re Mi’, which is performed by Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino. The song itself is about the decisions and choices that we make in life and how those decisions determine the path that we take in life. The bass line is additive and the song is well balanced.

Many of the songs on the album has a Jazz influence to them, which works wonders for the Kpop group. ‘Hey Buddy’ is one of those jazz vibe tracks. It is a lively and addictive number with a catchy chorus that even English speakers can join in with.

‘Light a Flame’ is a great listen for fans. The number is heavily influenced by Spanish music with guitars and trumpets. It will definitely get you swaying along to the melody.

At this point, the album takes a slower and more mellow tone. ‘AH! LOVE’ shows off the groups vocally capabilities with the rapping and singing being well balanced. The soft acoustic guitar mixed with the soft vocals work well too. Even though it is slower than the other tracks on the album, it still has that pop vibe to it and even the catchy beats and melodies.

The final track on the album is ‘All My Love’. This number is what fans have been waiting for; a ballad by Seventeen. The track showcases the groups vocals.

What makes this album special is that the album starts and ends with songs that features all the members. But the album has a good mix of songs by each sub-unit.

Overall, ‘; (Semicolon)’ is an excellent album for both existing fans and new fans alike.
